Ductless Systems

We get asked a lot what a ductless heat pump or air conditioner is and how it works. A ductless system will typically consist of an indoor unit mounted on your wall that works in conjunction with a compressor that is installed outside of your home or business. We install these types of units in homes that rely on window-mounted AC or in homes with some type of baseboard heating. Maybe you have a room or home office that you want to control the temperature better. One of the advantages that come with ductless units is that they are less visible than old baseboard heating units and they are quieter than AC units hanging out of your window during the summer here in the Pacific Northwest. By going ductless, you don’t lose all the heat like you typically would in a ducted system. This makes ductless heating and air conditioning systems much more energy-efficient, helping you save money on your power bill.

Ductless heating and air conditioning systems are not for everyone or every home. Depending on your home’s construction, ductless systems might not be a good choice for you, however, there are times when a ductless system is the best solution for your home or office.

Scenarios where a ductless system might be the best choice for you:

Are you adding more space to your home, like a home office, bonus room, spare room over a garage, or a man cave? A ductless system might be a great choice as it is sized to the size of the room you are building or adding on, and it does not share the ductwork with the rest of your home.
Are you a retiree, empty nester or have rooms you don’t use in your home? Are you heating or cooling areas you aren’t using? A ductless system could be the option to help you save money!
Different people like different temperatures. Ever gotten into a spat with your significant other over the thermostat? A ductless system allows each person to adjust to the temperature of their choice in the room that they are in. You can adjust the temperature zone to suit your individual comfort levels.
Have an older home without ductwork? That’s okay – with a ductless system you can add heating and air conditioning to your home. While adding a ductless system to your home is an investment, it is definitely a much more cost-effective option over adding ductwork!

Our heater suddenly started making a loud whooshing and rattling sound. We called two companies for repair estimates, and Gold Mountain came promptly to investigate and had the lower bid. Tim and Mason both worked diligently to fix the problem although they had to deal with supplier problems, a part arrived broken, and other glitches thrown at them. They showed up consistently and worked until it was fixed and stuck to the bid even though the scope of the project kept changing. We could not be more pleased.

Tim was kind and thorough. Our tankless water heater stopped working abruptly and he made it out quickly and worked to resolve the issue. When it was clear a piece needed to be replaced he drove out early in the morning to get the piece since having the piece delivered would leave us without hot water for a few days. Thank you, Tim!

A 5 STAR Experience from the original contact for an estimate to the completion of a new heating system. Tim also found a degeneratingpipe to the gas fireplace that 2 others did not address. He and his crew worked fast and clean, on time and at a fair cost. We are going back to Gold Mountain Air for our A/C install in 2-3 months and recommend them highly for new work and maintenance as well.

I was connected with Tim @ Gold Mountain Air through a good friend at Vylla real estate in Port Orchard. Gold Mountain was highly recommended, and is the company they use for business and home. Being that we had bought our home about 8 months ago, we really wanted to make sure everything was in good working condition before fall and winter had a grip on temps. Tim came out to Allyn and serviced our system, checked out the entire heating and AC unit. He cleaned, adjusted my fan blades on heat pump to be more efficient... He said everything looked good. I can’t say enough wonderful things about Tim and his crew. I called in a bit of a panic when our dryer stopped functioning because of a blocked duct error. Tim got us on the schedule the next day! His crew (his son and another employee) called before they arrived, were right on schedule, wearing masks and friendly and professional. He assessed the situation, provided a recommendation and price and got to work. He not only resolved the problem, but made the dryer duct system better- resolving an issue that existed prior to us moving in. Great service with a local mom and pop business. My favorite business to support. They listened to my concerns and delivered incredible product, and cleaned up after them selves. I was thinking about going with Costco for a heat pump, but talk to Tim for a second bid. He addressed my concerns with my ventalation, and advised me on a heat pump that fit in my manufactured home. I am very happy with the product and savings on my ultility bills. And built a nice pad for the outside unit. And the price was reasonable. Bonus, My dog liked Tim and his crew. In fact Tim was his favorite. I trust my dog's intuition on people. He always picks the honest, trustworthy souls.

I just the team at Gold Mountain Air do a furnace replacement in my house. Tim was very responsive in getting me a proposal with a couple of hours and didn't pressure me into the higher option. He explained the benefits of both options and the choice was mine. His team did the replacement in 4 hours. They were all very knowledgeable and respectful. I truly believe that this may be the best company in any industry that I've worked with.This father/son team is experienced enough to solve almost any problem yet small enough to care about your personal well being. They were quick, affordable, and did quality work. This father - son business was great. We bought an old house and we're afraid to turn the furnace on with no idea what was in the ducts. Good thing we didn't! Furnace and ducts were filthy. They pulled an entire set of Legos and a dead mouse out. They cleaned the furnace to almost new looking and sanitized the ducts. They didn't have our furnace filter on hand, so the next day, they drove all the way to Tahuya to give us 2 filters.

Tim, the owner, was easy to communicate with over email. He was quick to respond and scheduling was easy. Mason and Noah came out to complete the service earlier than originally scheduled to clean my Dryer Vent. Tim can out as well and indicated the lint might be a record high!
